Hello, Kelly here! So nice to meet you!

A little about me…I use she/her pronouns and grew up outside of Asheville but have lived in the Piedmont of N.C. for 20+ years.  I grew up in a family of plant lovers - folks that take half a day to go a mile because they are always wandering off trail to look at a wildflower or wondering what that tree is.

I came to herbalism because of my desire to have greater autonomy and understanding of my own health and my own illness.  Living in a body is a complicated thing, a never ending enigma and curiosity. To me, “health” is a process, a dance of sorts, that we are orchestrating minute by minute over the course of our lives.  I find deep meaning in the ways my training as an herbalist can provide understanding and clarity of the orchestration of that dance and I specialize in understanding each unique human holistically with the ultimate goal of supporting the body's innate healing process.

In 2016, I began my studies with the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine. I then completed a year at the Terra Sylva School of Botanical Medicine and 2 more years with the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism’s clinical program.

I love the magic, mystery and possibilities for healing that exist within our relationships to plants and the earth and dream of a world in which modes of healing are dignified, radically holistic and available to all.  I bring an anti-oppression and harm reduction lens and analysis to my work.

I have worked with clients with insomnia, hormonal imbalances (thyroid, uterine/ovarian), diabetes, digestive issues, grief, depression, anxiety and more.  As someone who (used to have!) endometriosis, I am particularly interested in hormonally rooted conditions and imbalances, but my knowledge and experience extends beyond these areas.  In my approach I weave together both a Western clinical and traditional Chinese medicine lens alongside modern science and research.

For you astrology nerds out there (hand raised) I am a Gemini sun, Cancer rising and Taurus moon.  A classic Gemini, I have had so many hobbies and gone down so many worm holes over the course of my life but currently spend my free time dancing, reading (visionary social change fiction) gardening and just spending time with the beautiful and complicated web of community I am blessed to be a part of.

My Guiding Principles & Values

  • CLIENT CENTERED

I honor and respect your knowledge and experience of your health. My role is to listen, connect the dots & provide you with vital health guidance, but ultimately I want to ensure you are sailing your ship.

  • KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

I love teaching my clients. The more we understand about our health patterns and body the more autonomy and power we have to make lasting changes.

  • INCLUSIVITY

My goal is to provide gender affirming, culturally competent, anti-oppressive based care. I am a life-long learner on the path to collective liberation.

  • ACCESSIBILITY

In my dream world, all people would have access to herbal knowledge and medicine. I offer a limited number of sliding scale options for clients with financial limitations and am constantly scheming on how to make my services affordable for those with restricted resources

  • TRADITIONAL WISDOM + MODERN SCIENCE

I love the interweaving of traditional herbal wisdom & modern science and believe herbs can complement modern medicine.

  • HOLISTIC MINDSET

Your mind, body & heart are connected. Environmental & socio-cultural factors affect your well-being. Using lessons from nature & ecology, we will look at all of these factors to address root causes of health imbalances.

I am so grateful to live on a beautiful piece of land in Cedar Grove, N.C., an area that was once (and still is) stewarded by the indigenous people of the Ocaneechee, Saponny, Eno and Shakori tribes. I take great honor in caring for this land and in my gardens grow almost 40 medicinal plants for my apothecary that are used in custom formulas with clients.
